Peace Connection Award

Inspired by the reconstruction of the Old Bridge in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina—a universal symbol of peace and connection—the Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation established the Peace Connection Award in 2004. This award honors individuals and organizations worldwide who exemplify an unwavering commitment to fostering peace, cooperation, and mutual understanding.

The award is based on the difficult experiences the city endured at the end of the 20th century, after which it found the strength to reconcile its diverse ethnic and religious communities. Every year, the award is given to laureates from various backgrounds who have uniquely contributed to peace and multiethnic cooperation.

Among the laureates are Nelson Mandela, Václav Havel, Dr. Alois Mock, Jacques Chirac, Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei, Antonio Guterres, His Highness the Aga Khan, and others. The goal of the Center for Peace award is to honor those whose beliefs and actions contribute to building peace and cooperation worldwide.
