Dr. Bećirović Visits the Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation
Mostar - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Denis Bećirović, visited the Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation in Mostar, where he was welcomed by the Center’s director, Safet Oručević, together with his colleagues.
The hosts presented the guest with the Center’s rich documentary collection – photographs, video recordings, and authentic documents – which testify to the events in Mostar and Herzegovina during the war and post-war years. Director Oručević emphasized that the Center, as a non-governmental organization, makes an exceptional contribution to preserving historical memory while building foundations for mutual trust and strengthening a culture of dialogue among the citizens of Mostar and the whole of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Center’s representatives thanked Dr. Bećirović for his visit, as well as for his statesmanlike approach and engagement in what they highlighted as the most difficult times for Bosnia and Herzegovina since the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement. They also congratulated him on his active role at the international level, where he strongly advocates for the defense of the interests and integrity of our homeland.
During the conversation with the Center’s activists, Dr. Bećirović expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and stressed that organizations such as this one play a key positive role not only in Mostar but throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. He particularly praised their consistency in defending a unique and multiethnic society, as well as in promoting peace and tolerance.
Bećirović underlined the importance of the Center for Peace and Multiethnic Cooperation as a place that reminds us of the consequences of war, while at the same time providing space for building new bridges of trust among people. Such institutions, he noted, are not only guardians of collective memory but also drivers of social dialogue and reconciliation, which are crucial for the future of Mostar and the entire country.
In the continuation of the meeting, the participants reflected on current social issues in Mostar and Bosnia and Herzegovina, discussing the challenges that still stand in the way of the stability and development of the city and the state.
